You’ve got to admit: Ryan Cohen, the CEO of GameStop, always thinks big and lives large. His attempt to take over eBay—a company at least four times bigger than his—was pretty outrageous. Now, according to press reports, it looks like he’s abandoning this crazy plan and supposedly working on a new spin with eBay. GameStop is a company in dire straits; its stock has dropped more than 50 percent in the past five years as it tries to transition from a physical store format to an online provider of digital products. Think of all the wasted time, money and resources Cohen spent on this eBay wild goose chase when he could have been concentrating on fixing GameStop. Another example of hubris; a big thinker, thinking the wrong thing.
